Hairs of Your Head, 8/20/14

I want to brag on the Lord's faithfulness today. Scripture shows us how God cares about even the smallest insignificant matters:

Matthew 10:29-31New King James Version (NKJV)

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Our King did something beautiful like this for me in the last few days. I live with Mom in Redding, CA, she is little old 73 yr old widow who counts on me for maintenance matters around the house and it is my pleasure to serve her. It is very hot here in the summer and Mom's east deck gets powerful morning sun and has glass doors all along that face of the house. So the roll-out awnings that shade the doors are an essential part of keeping the house cool. About 3-4 days ago just as I was beginning to slide into consciousness after a night's sleep, I had a very brief image of the awnings collapsed so badly that they were resting on the the deck rail. I thought it was the Lord so I went out and looked and they seemed like they were fine so I didn't know what to think. But then last night after dinner as I stood at doors looking out at the view of the city, I saw a nut lying on the deck under the eaves and wondered where it came from. It was right under where the awnings are mounted so I began to investigate with great concern. It turns out the nut had fallen out of part of awning mechanism. Further investigation revealed that there were loose bolts and nuts on all four ends of the extending arms that put the awnings out over the deck. The man who installed it had failed to re-tighten them after loosening them to adjust the height of the awnings when extended. We had averted a disaster. After fixing the problem the awnings are better than they ever were and the problems with the motors seem to have been corrected.

The little image I was given was a warning that the awnings were at risk of falling apart and collapsing completely. God was telling me to check them out and who knows if I would have paid attention to the nut on the deck if he had not planted that seed of concern about the awnings in my mind through the image. HOW GOOD IS OUR GOD!!! There is NO little matter in our lives that he is not intimately acquainted with and cares about. How can we but love and appreciate him with all our hearts.

Friend, if you don't know God then please pray this prayer to him today to receive the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for your sins and receive Eternal Salvation, eternal life and a relationship with God the Father today. If you will do that you will have access to the greatest care and guidance for your life that you can possibly have, and in the times ahead we all are going to need it. God bless you.
