Mother Mine

Dear Mother, honorable lady

Have I properly thanked you?

For all you've done, all you are?

I am so deeply grateful

How could I ever pay you back

I pray you get all you deserve

I pray you receive 100 fold return

Are there words enough?

Could one ever fulfill the debt?

My mother, in whose womb I was knit

Who shared with me her blood and life

Who offered herself to God that I would have life

Who laid me at her breast

Who has knelt to pray for me every day

I love you my mother

I honor you my mother

Please forgive me

Please forgive me any shame I have brought you

Please remember the ways I have tried to bless you
