Suicide in the Bible, 9/20/18

Not all who commit suicide go to hell. Some do, obviously, but not all. God is not a cookie cutter judge, he does not make one size fits all judgments. It depends on the person. God judges justly and individually in each case. So what does the bible say about this?

The scripture tells us that King Saul killed himself but went to be with Samuel. Samuel was not in hell but in Abraham's Bosom under the earth. In Samuel 28, Samuel told Saul that the next day Saul would be with him.:

1 Samuel 28:19 New King James Version (NKJV)

19 Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.”

Again, Samuel was not in hell but in Abraham's Bosom under the earth. Only a fool would think that Samuel went to hell. He was under the earth but was not in hell. He was where the children of God went before the Cross. Jesus speaks of it in Luke 16 when he told the story of Lazarus the beggar who went to Abraham's Bosom and the rich man who went to hell.:

Luke 16:22

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

So, if we actually believe the bible, we have to conclude that Saul went not to hell but to Abraham's Bosom. Thus, some who commit suicide do not go to hell. Very simple actually. All we to do is read the bible and allow the Holy Spirit to illuminate the Word for us.
