Romans 11, 6/17/14

This is a call to prayer on a subject you have heard me speak about before: our obligation to Israel. Not all believers understand that we the church are directly attached to Israel and the Jewish people. Consider this excerpt from Romans 11, which is Paul's dissertation on the people and land of Israel and us, the gentile church:

Romans 11:16-18

New King James Version (NKJV)

16 For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. 17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, 18 do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.

Israel is the root and we are grafted in branches. It very much behooves us all to love and care for Israel, praying for Jerusalem as God has instructed us:

Psalm 122:6

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you.

Notice that there is a blessing attached for those who love Jerusalem. God has been calling me to pray for Jerusalem often at night for several months now and I want to encourage you to do it too. You do not need to wait for a specific leading from the Holy spirit to do this, it is clearly taught in the word of God to do this and we all would do well to obey. Here in America, our country will soon suffer devastating ramifications because of our collective betrayal and abandonment of Israel but individually you do not have to suffer the calamity if you will willingly be on God's side in the matter. This is serious business and as a nation we have been playing with fire by telling Israel they should give up some of their land to the Palestinians, who are the Philistines of the scriptures:

Numbers 24:5-9

New King James Version (NKJV)

“How lovely are your tents, O Jacob!

Your dwellings, O Israel!...“Blessed is he who blesses you,

And cursed is he who curses you.”

Many deceive themselves by claiming they are righteous in this matter because they are not politically aligned with the current administration but God has instructed us to PRAY. Make sure that you are amongst those he finds to be obedient to this call when he soon comes in judgement to discipline the body of Christ and the nation for our failure to do this and other things he requires of us. God loves us but he is holy and is not to be trifled with, only obedience to him brings the health and prosperity we all desire. God bless you and may you be found in him int the challenging times ahead.
