Running Home Cells, 10/4/19

The home prayer cell is the backbone of true church life. Cells generally start out small but sometimes they grow too big. Ideally a home cell should include no more than 10-12 brothers in the Lord. Here is what to do if they grow too big.

From a big home cell of 50, for instance, we should form 5 small cells in 5 different homes with no more than 10-12 meeting in each home cell. Don't expect the leader of each cell to be perfect. God will help them to grow. Just do the best you can and trust God and pray for them. Leave room for the Spirit to lead them. Make sure that the focus is prayer:

Acts 2:42-47 New King James Version (NKJV)

⁴² And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. ⁴³ Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. ⁴⁴ Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, ⁴⁵ and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

⁴⁶ So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, ⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added ^[d]to the church daily those who were being saved.

Encourage much praying and singing in tongues and yielding to the leading of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit will give something for each one to share so that all can participate according to Act 14:26. This is necessary for each one to grow in his gifting and anointing from God. Encourage them to eat together, all who are willing. And to take communion every time. This is true church life. The home cell is the backbone of true church life.

As individual cells grow, start a new one every time there is enough extra people. For example, if two cells grow from 12 to 15 brothers, then take 5 from each one and form a new cell of 10. Keep the cells small and intimate. The intimacy is very important. If there are to many brothers in one cell they cannot all get to know each other well enough to be strong together in unity.
