A Word To Husbands, 12/13

This a message to all men who are husbands or potential husbands but ladies are also invited to read it for wisdom on what they can require of husbands or future husbands.

These scriptures all speak about how men are called to see their wives and treat and love them. Men, we need to know that God holds us accountable to know his word on the matter and that we men will answer to him for our leadership in our marriages and homes in this life and at the Judgement Seat of Christ at the end of our lives.

Proverbs 5:18-19 New King James Version (NKJV)

18

Let your fountain be blessed,

And rejoice with the wife of your youth.

19

As a loving deer and a graceful doe,

Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;

And always be enraptured with her love.

Proverbs 12:4

An excellent wife is the crown of her husband…

Proverbs 18:22 New King James Version (NKJV)

22

He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord.

Proverbs 19:14

Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

Proverbs 31:10-31

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Virtuous Wife

10

Who[a] can find a virtuous[b] wife?

For her worth is far above rubies.

11

The heart of her husband safely trusts her;

So he will have no lack of gain.

12

She does him good and not evil

All the days of her life.

13

She seeks wool and flax,

And willingly works with her hands.

14

She is like the merchant ships,

She brings her food from afar.

15

She also rises while it is yet night,

And provides food for her household,

And a portion for her maidservants.

16

She considers a field and buys it;

From her profits she plants a vineyard.

17

She girds herself with strength,

And strengthens her arms.

18

She perceives that her merchandise is good,

And her lamp does not go out by night.

19

She stretches out her hands to the distaff,

And her hand holds the spindle.

20

She extends her hand to the poor,

Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

21

She is not afraid of snow for her household,

For all her household is clothed with scarlet.

22

She makes tapestry for herself;

Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

23

Her husband is known in the gates,

When he sits among the elders of the land.

24

She makes linen garments and sells them,

And supplies sashes for the merchants.

25

Strength and honor are her clothing;

She shall rejoice in time to come.

26

She opens her mouth with wisdom,

And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

27

She watches over the ways of her household,

And does not eat the bread of idleness.

28

Her children rise up and call her blessed;

Her husband also, and he praises her:

29

“Many daughters have done well,

But you excel them all.”

30

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,

But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

31

Give her of the fruit of her hands,

And let her own works praise her in the gates.

Ecclesiastes 9:9

Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity; for that is your portion in life, and in the labor which you perform under the sun.

The entire book of The Song of Solomon.

1 Corinthians 7:3

Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

1 Corinthians 7:4

The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

Ephesians 5:23-32 New King James Version (NKJV)

23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Colossians 3:19 King James Version (KJV)

19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

1 Peter 3:7 New King James Version (NKJV)

A Word to Husbands

7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered

Men, let us challenge ourselves for any man worth his salt as a potential husband will search the scriptures on this matter. Ladies must not compromise in what they require of a man who desires their love and we men have no right to ask them to. The Father sees women as so beyond precious as his very own daughters, let's make sure we agree with him then as a husband. Bless you.
