One Lady's Conquest

But the love I fought with pride

My shame I hid and closed my heart

I would not let her in

She fought for my imprisoned love

But did not seem to win

I'd built a wall around my love

And took watch in its tower

I watched to hide my love within

And guarded every hour

My rampart served its duty

But inside my love did ache

She left her battle for my love

It's time this wall must break

Though she finally ceased her siege

Behind she left a seed

So now it's done, the battle's won

The victory's hers indeed

And the seed she left

Has grown and bloomed

My love 's no longer doomed

I wondered if she'd be my wife

Unspoken and hidden inside

I had a love once in my life
