God Defines True Justice, 7/12/16

Here is a comment that I posted to a friend's Facebook post earlier today. My friend is one of the good men in law enforcement in our nation. He and I met and knew each other in college and I have always known him to be a genuinely good-hearted man. I am grateful for the service of men like him in that line of work. He had posted about the need for citizens to comply with law enforcement officers and let me make it clear I am not advocating open rebellion where citizens just willy-nilly decide to be lawless and uncooperative. But I sent him this comment to try to bring up the other side of the coin when we are faced with the obvious fact that our government on all levels is becoming increasingly oppressive and evil, especially when resistance to such oppression is a dearly held American tradition inherited from those who formed our nation in the first place. My friend is a good man and means only well in what he says and there is much to be said for the point he makes in the maintenance of peace and order. But I believe we need to carefully examine these questions in light of scripture and pray and move toward better ways of governmental and social function when we are confronted with the obvious reality that we are falling short, as evidenced by the increasing number of cases of seriously problematic law enforcement officers behaving way out of line. Please do not take what I say as an outright criticism of all law enforcement, I appreciate those in that environment who carry out their service with integrity as does my friend. Here is what I said:

"But brother, what do we do about the reality that due to erosion of morals and good social values, the disintegration of our government, and the increasing number of evil laws, what the officers are trying to do is the wrong thing more and more often? Just because it is the law does not make it the morally right thing to do. Do you believe that abortion and homosexuality are morally justifiable? I hope not. God sure doesn't. Laws come out of the whims of man not from the throne of God which its the source of true justice:

Psalm 89:14

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face.

Psalm 97:2

Clouds and darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

But it is God who defines what is morally acceptable not our man made laws. Telling people to comply with tyrannical government is an oppressive thing to do to them. Indeed our nation was born out of the resistance against oppressive governmental authority. And it is happening again. We are in trouble and not all our officers are good men like you. In fact an increasing percentage are becoming more and more evil. Remember, the devil uses laws very powerfully:

Psalm 94:20

Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law,

Have fellowship with You?

1 Corinthians 15:56

The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.

If our Founding Fathers had 'complied with the officer' we would not have a nation today. I am not advocating open rebellion, that is ungodly. What I am saying is that we need to be careful about taking a stance that the side of the law is always right and needs always to be obeyed as if their were prefect. It absolutely is not the case. Something to think and pray about. Brother, please know that I am grateful for the good men like you who work in law enforcement but I know from extensive personal experience that they are not all like you, not by a long shot. Thank you for your service to us, you and all the other good ones. God bless you."
