There is a lot of confusion out there in the Body of Christ about the Baptism of Fire. There are a lot of people out there claiming they have the fire when they do not. Earlier today I received an email from a fine younger brother who was hoping the fire had been imparted to him through someone who claimed to have it. In this hope this dear brother was hoping to also share it with me. It was a beautiful thought and intent. This is what I said to him in hope of helping him have the clarity he needs on this subject. I share this in hope it will help you too: "Brother, I
appreciate your love and good intention in this email brother, thank you
so much. Forgive me for not saying that right away when you sent me
this. But there is a lot of confusion out there about what the true
Baptism of Fire is. There are a few individuals who have received it but
the prophesied corporate Baptism of Fire has not yet been released in
this generation. It first appears in scripture in Isaiah: Isaiah 6:1-7 New King James Version (NKJV) 6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above
it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his
face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” 4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.” Notice that the first thing that Isaiah did when he came in contact with the Fire is that he repented(verse 5). The true Baptism of Fire is the baptism into the person of the Father. This
brings the fear of the Lord that instantly begins to bring repentance unto
cleansing and holiness(verse 7). I highly recommend Sergio Scataglini's
book on the Fire. It is called "The Fire of His Holiness." When Sergio
Scataglini was baptized in fire it knocked him down and he spent six
days shaking uncontrollably under the power of God. He was unable to
walk and was repenting and coming into real holiness. As with
Isaiah, Sergio testifies of how when the Fire hit him he was instantly
convicted of all kinds of sins that he had never previously realized
were sins. That is the true Fire. Unless you experienced something
similar to that then you can be sure that whatever this man tried to
impart to you was not the true Baptism of Fire. I find this kind of
presumption on the part of these men very distressing. I don't think God
appreciates these men misrepresenting his true Baptism
of Fire and I would not be surprised to see these men dealt with in
the fullness of time. But be comforted to know that the true Baptism of
Fire is coming and keep praying for it. It is the first step into
sonship and true holiness. I am so glad you care about this subject and
I really appreciate you seeking into be a vessel of it to me. I love
your heart, brother. Thanks again. Love you." Steve Pursell, 6/3/19 | ![]() |
