True Sonship, 1/9/18

I see and honor in many believers an interest in walking in sonship to God. I know that the Lord has already revealed much to some about this. But in case this particular understanding is new and/or you have not yet grown deep in it with the Lord, I want to give it to you to give to you an essential key to it. Sonship is a much misunderstood topic. But the scripture makes it clear that there is a pre-requisite to sonship, a process by which spiritual maturity and  true sonship is formed in us by the Lord. You will find it in these verses. I hope you can receive it.

Romans 8:17New King James Version (NKJV)
17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Hebrews 2:9-11New King James Version (NKJV)
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,

Hebrews 5:8-9New King James Version (NKJV)
though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

The key to true spiritual maturity and sonship is suffering: Suffering With Christ to be perfected in him. Any version of sonship that you have been taught or believe that does not include this is not a true understanding of how God accomplishes the work of turning us into true sons of God. You will hear plenty of talk about sonship but you will not always see or hear good demonstration or teaching about the fact that suffering with the Lord is the key to actually achieving it.  With God's help you can receive this. Bless you.
